The Poem for this Painting by Yolantha Harrison-Pace
The Portrait
(take one)
your eyes are the easel
my canvas leans upon
let my smile be the lipstick
of your brush
my laughter
the every etch of your pen
may the sway of
my hips persuade
the perspective
of your thoughts
and the perfume of my breath
shadow the steps
of your decision
(take two)
love is
no respecter
of persons
love breathes
piercing it's
romeo-ed and julietted
anthonied and cleopatraed arrow
straight and true.
a lovers last stance
of romance
is to die hand in hand
remembering their alamo
it was good while it lasted
as the gunpowder rain blasted.
alas my tainted lover
the poisons
of parting
are such bitter-sweet sorrows

The Poem for this Painting by Yolantha Harrison-Pace
Poseidon
out of the warring ocean of people
he walked facing the call
of the rainbow blue sea
a new war begun
the sun sags
for the warriors
temporary return
to songs unsung
and tears unspun
there are no heroes in war
just rivers of blood, grit and tar
to kill or be killed
to still or be stilled
so the unsuspecting wives with their children
may in a fit of calmness sleep
while the rave of war runs deep
deep in the sorrowful streams of time
olive branches and spears
camouflage your name
mutated babies, half fish, half man
napalmed
while warring horses
and stoic stallions
rise like the moons
unwaved challenge to release
the quiet and unassuming rage of peace

Lost Chivalry
He that wears
the crown of darkness
abides wingfooted
for...
A quest is never
too great to
right the
rights of women
rightly.

Hypnos
death's twin brother,
patiently waits his turn
daily cranking
eyelids nightly shut.
For all know
that his brother,
Thanatos
stops by but once.

Feast and be delighted
the roses disrobe
in obedience
for a flower chosen
by such as she
gladly relinquishes
its skin
the almond earth
righteously gives her pigment power
as the starfish anoint her eyes
she hides not her grace
but protects the world
from her compelling face
she needs not touch
for that would be too much
imprisoned by her own beauty
she watches
the love of others
unloved
waiting for a lovesmith power
to sharpen
her womanly tools
Secrets
you tell me everything
but I keep secrets
you unravel vicious tales
but I keep secrets
you like about you
you lie about me
you lie about them
you lie about us
but I keep red velvet
bandana secrets
you spin fancy yarns
embroider fancy stories
I smile a one cornered smile
and keep secrets
you depart full and tantalized
I remain engorged and hungry
full of my secrets

"Loplop Triology" by Yolantha Harrison-Pace
Loplop
kissing cousin
to Big Brother
the loplop man
listens closely
for your secrets
and ties them like
hair bows to his nest
he turns your tears
to rain
so never fear
loplop man
lingers near
the weed seeds
of his mortality
wilts guilt
as he smiles
fondling your
indecisiveness
gaining
strength
pertaining
to the immoral
majority
tweet-tweet says
loplop
sweet-sweet says
loplop
complete
complete
complete
he chirps
in the dark canal of
your ears
Part 2
The Protector
four and twenty school girls
pure as the driven snow
protected by uncle loplop
more than the world will ever know
sing a song of loplop
a pocket full of peace
four and twenty school girls
each one his chosen niece
Part 3
lay me down loplop
bend me gently back
we'll tango til tomorrow
forgets that night is black
swoon me over loplop
hide me with your wings
touch me on yesterdays tomorrow
and i'll know why the caged bird sings

love of my love,
and God knitted the rib of life into her,
and woman became a living soul
rose blooded and burgundy kissed,
she gazes snow dusted with an evergreen crown of eternity,
bundled in anticipation,
the angel waits for her name to be called...

The Poem for this Painting by Yolantha Harrison-Pace
you look at me
not looking at you
and you stare
anyway
ha ha
I know you want
to be me
if only
you had the
nerve
so you look and look and look
and wonder
what its like to be me
to be free
to wear red
with writing
on my head
if you weren't
so afraid
you would come close
and I'd let you
wear this one
because I have
another
it is yellow
with black writing
but you are afraid
so I keep wearing
the red.
